Publishing Ethics

 Publication ethics
i) Journal policies on authorship and contributorship;
Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for its content. All co-authors should have been directly involved in all three of the following:
planning and contribution to some component (conception, design, conduct, analysis, or interpretation) of the work which led to the paper or interpreting at least a portion of the results; writing a draft of the article or revising it for intellectual content; and final approval of the version to be published.  All authors should review and approve the manuscript before it is submitted for publication, at least as it pertains to their roles in the project.
ii) Complaints and appeals;
Appealing the Publication Decision
Editors from Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics have very broad discretion in determining whether an article is an appropriate fit for the journal. Many manuscripts are declined with a very general statement of the rejection decision. These decisions are not eligible for formal appeal unless the author believes the decision to reject the manuscript was based on an error in the review of the article, in which case the author may appeal the decision by providing the Editor with a detailed written description of the error they believe occurred. If no error has occurred, the Editor’s decision to reject is final.
Appealing a Post Publication Decision
If an author has concerns about a retraction or other action on their published paper (such as a correction or expression of concern), they may contact the editor cqm@tongji.edu.cn with a detailed written description of their concern and any supporting materials where applicable.
iii)Journal policies on conflicts of interest / competing interests;
Declaration of all potential conflicts of interest is required by Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics.
iv) Journal policies on data sharing and reproducibility;
Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics requires, as a condition for publication, that the data supporting the results in the paper will be archived in an appropriate public repository. Authors are required to provide a data availability statement, including a link to the repository they have used, and to cite the data they have shared. Whenever possible the scripts and other artefacts used to generate the analyses presented in the paper should also be publicly archived. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the editor, for example, if sharing data compromises privacy of human data, ethical standards or legal requirements. If authors are unable to share data (for example, if sharing data compromises ethical standards or legal requirements) then authors are not required to share it and must describe restrictions in their data availability statement.
v) Journal’s policy on ethical oversight;
According to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ethical oversight should include, but is not limited to, policies on consent to publication, publication on vulnerable populations, ethical conduct of research using animals, ethical conduct of research using human subjects, handling confidential data and ethical business/marketing practices. Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics is committed to considering appeals concerning the non-observance of ethical principles by our authors.
All research published in Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics must have been conducted according to international and local guidelines ensuring ethically conducted research.
Ethics approval for all studies must be obtained before the research is conducted. Authors must be prepared to provide further information to the journal editorial office upon request.
vi) Journal’s policy on intellectual property;
All right reserved by the Editorial Office of Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics.
Authors grant Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics a license to publish the article and identify Chinese Quarterly of Mechanics as the original publisher. No content published by the journal may be reproduced or abridged without authorization from the journal. Please do not use or copy the layout and design of the journals without permission.
vii) Journal’s options for post-publication discussions and corrections.
Post-publication discussion is welcome. Readers or authors may contact cqm@tongji.eud.cn for discussion. The correction procedure depends on the publication stage of the article, but in all circumstances a correction notice is published as soon as possible.
